After many years of effort, this book was finally finished in 2017 and quickly sold out. We have now published a Third Edition, editing for remaining errors and omissions and adding several pages to the second edition.
This is not just a listing of the various models and specifications, but a lively read, peppered with actual airplanes and people, some famous, some infamous but all described in interesting anecdotes; an illuminating look at an era when these airplanes were new(er) and brings us back to that age. The original Downie book is the basis and retained as it is unreplaceable, but we have added additional pages, corrected some text, included photos illustrating airplanes not in the orginal and printed the entire book in full color.
