14-13-2 Engine Driven Fuel Pump

I called that guy once, he promised to call back but never did. In the meantime, I found a source for a rebuild kit in MA. The diaphragm and internal parts are correct, the gasket to mount up to the engine is not but can be made. The kit no is FPA-98, found under "studebaker". It tolerates modern mogas. I have run the plane for several hours now and it seems to be holding up fine, good fuel pressure, but we do note some fluctuation in the needle.

An update: 3 months and about 5 hours in, the diaphragm I got from Then and Now started leaking ... and since my mounting flange was not flat, I noted fuel dripping from that flange otherwise I would not have known. Took it out and could not see any visual defect. I suspect it's leaking through the center hole and this may be an isolated example. Again, visually it looks perfect. But a leak is a leak. So I have modified my original diaphragm post to take a 10-32 screw (instead of peening) and am going to replace just the rubber and give it a dab of RTV around the center hole. There is a guy on Ebay that sells a diaphragm kit of the correct size and material (ethanol resistant).

The Ebay diaphragm fitted to the modified center post has been working great for 3 months. For the first time, fuel pressure remains at 5lb after I shut down!
