    Question about my 1413-2.

Can anyone share the secret about how you get the top front nut on the left wing? I was able to get it started but the wing to so close to the fuselage that I can't even get a box end wrench on it. I was able to get the other seven on and keys in place but the one in question is kicking my...

Lubricating the u-joints on the landing gear of a 1314.

Dan, My wings are ready to go on so this is the time to lubricate the U-joints in the gears, however, try as I might, I couldn't do any better than oiling them externally. I guess I don't have the right equipment but that little ball is tough! I couldn't move it at all. Suggestions are...

    Cruisaire window question.

I have read the advice about not putting the original window in a Cruisaire but that is one of the things that attracted me to it... a window that actually opens enough to let in some cool air. Consequently, I want to put it back even if it means taking it back out again later. My question is...

Up and down travel of the elevators

Some time ago there're was a thread about how much travel there was in the elevators but I have not been able to find it. If my memory is correct, it seems like there was 18 degrees of upward travel and less on the down side. Can anyone confirm this or at least tell me that I am wrong? Thanks, Gary

    Maintenance manual for 14-13.

I have the Parts Manual as well as the Operators and Service Manual but am wondering if there is another manual for the 14-13 series aircraft. As I reassemble my plane, I find that I am going to both Webers and the factory with questions that should be answered by a manual. Gary

    cowling channels.

I seem to have "hit the wall" again on my 1413-2 as I only have two cowling channels. Are the top and bottom channels the same? I have mounted the two I have on the bottom and they seems to fit properly. So the big question is does anyone have two cowling channels that you are willing to part...

    Carb. Temp probe.

I have a problem. My carb is a Marvel Shebler model MA-3SPA. I sent it to Florida for overhaul and ADs about three years ago (earlier in my project) and now there doesn't seem to be anywhere for my carb temp probe. However, on the front of the carb directly above the "data plate" is a plug...

    1413-2 Engine cowl "clip"

My right engine cowl has four small holes where there must have been a clip of some kind that secures the rod that is used to hold the cowl open. I have the four holes but no clip to whatever is used to secure the rod. Additionally, there are no holes on the left cowl although they may have...

    eye lids on a Cruisaire.

A guy stopped by today to see the progress on my 47' Cruisaire. He used to own one but when he looked at the nose and saw the "eye lids", he asked why I had them. I frankly was at a loss for an answer but I'm pretty sure they were standard on my bird. Were they unique to a few Cruisaires or a...

    Cowling channels for a 1413-2

Carroll at Alex Aircraft told me that they are called cowling channels but I have questions. I can see by the holes that there were four of them, however, I only have two. Both of mine are straight but since I'm missing two, are there two that are curved? They run from the firewall to the...

    Combustion monitor wires on a 1413 2.

My combustion monitor wires have been cut off and shortened. Am I correct that they need to be a specific length in order to give an accurate reading? If so, can anyone tell me how long they were originally? Thanks, Gary

    Tail wheel leaks oil.

My 1413-2 tail wheel is leaking oil. I bought new seals and installed them a couple of years ago but it continued to seep oil. Recently, I took it off and put in a second set of new seals and it is still leaking. Kevin at Webers suggest that I may have overfilled it so I also drained some of...

Tail attachment point of a 1413-2

Interior is in and am attaching the tail feathers so that we can adjust all of the cablers, etc. prior to putting on the cover. Now I have another question: where the tail sections attach, there are four holes. Numbering from top down, they would be one, two, three and four. My tail section...

Gear up warning buzzer for a 1413.

I am putting my 1413-2 back together and my gear up warning buzzer doesn't work. Do any of you guys with parts have one that you want to part with? Also, I'm looking for the small cover that goes over the trim tab indicator that shows the position of the trim tab. I got one from a 1419 but it...

    Nearly completed project.

I recently learned that I need to part with my toys and focus on getting "things in order''. Consequently, I'll be listing my project on the fly market for three weeks. If I don't find any interested party, I'll have to sell it in pieces. (My wife will not be able to do this.) I have put a...

    Worried.

Hey! I'm starting to worry about all of you Bellancaphiles! I'm not sure if everyone died or just this forum. Doesn't anyone have anything to ask/gripe/complain about or just sound off? :? Gary

    One less Bellanca

I saw on-line where Richard from Worthington, MN (I think he goes by Guzziduck) crashed his 14-13-2 coming back from Osh Kosh. He had stopped to visit frineds or something and his engine quit on take off. I saw pictures of the plane and it is gone. Richard and his son were both taken to the U...

    POH for 1413

I bought my 1413 as a project and all of the log books, etc. had been thrown away by the widow of the previous owner. I am wondering if they made pilot operating handbooks for the 1413 and if so, how can I get a copy? Gary

Removing the starter from a Franklin 150 hsp.

My 150 Franklin is still hanging on a hoist so I thought this would be an ideal time to have the starter checked out. When I took the bolts out of the starter and took off the back cover, I took one look at the clip and spring assembly and decided that I didn't want to go any farther until I...

    Light weight starters.

I noticed in another post that Larry mentioned he has a Skytec starter so I have a question. I was at an FAA Safety meeting a couple of weeks ago and the speaker said that the new light weight starters had a tendency to break if the engine "kicks back" while starting it. Has anyone experienced...
