    Fuel Sender Repair

Does anyone have a line on a shop which can repair a fuel sender? I've got one that's acting up. I'm sure it's a standard Stewart Warner automobile unit from the day(1950). It's designed for 6 volt, as a correct resistor is required in the circuit to the switch. Tom Robinson

    Electric Tugs

Has anyone found a good electric taildragger tug for a 14-19? Just moved to a different hangar, and I don't think my back is going last. Tom Robinson

    Spinner & Pitot/Static tube

Just had a storm here in Texas. Straight line winds of 108 mph. My 14-19 took a slight hit. Irreparable damage to the spinner(The way it's hit, I doubt if damage goes beyond that. We'll see.) The pitot/static tube is bent aft. I should consider myself lucky. It could have been much worse...

    FCC and the 121.5 ELT

An article in the latest The Aviation Consumer mag says the FCC has shot down any approval, production, or servicing of the older 121.5 ELT's. The article indicates that includes battery replacement. This is as of Jan. this year. Fortunately, I put a new batt. in my EBC-102a in Dec. So, in two...

    Stall Speeds

In comparing the stall speeds listed in my 1419's flight manual to the speeds listed in the 1419-2's, I find a marked difference. The 1419 speed is 54 mph, TIAS, with gear & flaps, 0 bank, power off. The -2 number for the same setup is 48 mph,TIAS. Clean speeds have an even higher...

    Voltage Regulators

Has anyone installed a Zeftronics regulator into their 14-19()? I was wondering about paperwork with the Feds. Zeftronics offers a direct FAA-PMA replacement for my Delco reg. which is listed in the cross reference in their ad. It seems like the replacement would be transparent to the...

    Trim tab play

Has anyone encountered play in the elevator trim tab, originating where the torque tube engages the threaded rod, forward of the elevator? This rod has a solid square cross section, which slides within a square tube. That's where the play is. There's enough side-to-side play (not fore-and-aft)to...

Replacing Master Cylinders on a 14-19

I know this topic has been done, but it seemed to center on the Cruisair installations. I've got a 14-19 with a Cleveland conversion and the original master cylinders. Braking is pathetic. I'm afraid to take it out if there's more than a puff of wind. Here in N. Texas, it was gusting over 25...

AGM batteries & electronic voltage regulators

Was wondering if anyone had info concerning the necessary paperwork for installing a Concorde AGM-style battery. I spoke with the reps at Concorde, and they were of the opinion that it's a drop-in replacement via Advisory Circular 23-27. Some of the locals say it would require a 337 field...

    O-435-A Crankshaft

If anybody happens to have a crank for an O-435-A, p/n 65356, that they're not using- let me know. I put a "wanted" in Barnstormers. The one I have has been rejected for pitting, located where the shop says they can't grind. Dan Cullman and I have been talking about the military O-435's, but a...

    AC fuel pump rebuild?

Anyone have a line on where I can get my fuel pump rebuilt? It's an AC p/n 9722 for an O-435A. I'm afraid of any NOS pumps(even if I could find one.) They've been a box so long, I'm not sure they're trustworthy now. Tom Robinson

    Cerminil Cylinders by ECI

I'll put this out there, in case anyone hasn't heard this. I had ECI of San Antonio apply the Cerminil process to all my cylinders (O-435A) at overhaul. This annual inspection revealed a flat cylinder during the compression check. Looks like it's may be an exhaust valve issue(400 hrs SMOH)...

    Hartzell HC12X20 hub replacement

Just spoke with my local prop shop to schedule the five-year inspection on my Hartzell HC12X20. They said that unless it's hanging on an experimental, Hartzell doesn't approve that hub for return to service on certified planes. The replacement is an HC-A2X20 hub. Any insights here? A new one...

    14-19 throttle control

Just completed the annual for my 14-19, and would like to pass on a "heads-up." At the end of the inspection, I and the IA were going to taxi out to do a high power, and check the vital signs. When I gave a push to the throttle, there was no resistance from the control. Mine is the original...

    Hartzell Bladder Diaphragm A.D. 2013-15-04

Just a bit of info for those of us who are "blessed" with this prop. The Feds have just come out with an A.D. requiring the change to a new diaphragm with a tab noting a batch/lot number. Effective date is Aug 30, 2013. According to the AD, the new one(P/N B-119-2) needs to be installed...

    Buried antenna problems?

Prior to recovering my 14-19, I installed a pair of Advanced Aircraft Electronics antennas. These look like a plastic belt, about 1" by 40", with a ferrite connector at the center. I can receive fine. Transmitting is very weak. The radio is an old Terra 960. My question is, do these...

    Oil filter for O-435A

Has anyone installed an Airwolf oil filter conversion onto an O-435-A? Airwolf Filter Corp. says their AFC-K007-X kit will work. If so, how did it work out? Or, what about other installations? Thanks, Tom.

    Flight control cable tension

I've been trying to discover some numbers for tension on the aileron and elevator cables on the 14-19. All Alexandria has are numbers for the 17-30( about 19 lb for the ailerons and 31 for the elevators.) My guess is that the numbers for mine don't exist. Does anyone have a better guess? Tom

    Balancing ailerons

I've recovered the ailerons, and I haven't found any hard and fast procedure for balancing them. Called Alexandria, Millers, and Webers. Webers suggested a moment limit of plus or minus 22 in-lb. measured at the trailing edge. That seems like a pretty wide limit. Any ideas? Tom.
