    Temporary Hangars- Opinions?

I am looking into basing my Cruisair at our Army airfield. Problem is, they don't have hangars yet! :( They said a temporary hangar would be acceptable as long as it doesn't infringe on the ramp space. I found one of these here http://all-shelters.com/hangar.html My guess is this would have...

    Elevator covering frustration

Okay- who's the wise guy who decided the 14-? elevator didn't need ribs that span the cross-section? I've rib-stiched this *%$@# thing TWICE now and it STILL looks a little dished. I can't seem to tie the knots loose enough where they will be TIGHT enough to hold the fabric and yet LOOSE enough...

Anyone ever stuff a 220 HP Frank in a 14-19?

I was wondering if it's possible without changing the cowl. Harvey Leydecker had a 14-13-2 with a hopped-up 180 in it, and he went with a Comanche cowl. Personally I'd love to put a 6A-350 in 392, but I actually like the classic cowl, so that's out. Maybe I can afford the 180 HP or the IO-360...

Need advice on replacing wing wiring for nav lights

I started pulling staples that hold the nav light wiring in place until I realized I would have to open up the trailing edge of the wing to get them all. Am I missing something here :?: My AI said he'd like the old stuff out of there before we run the new nav/ strobe cables. Speaking of, how...

Cleveland brake conversion for a Cruisair Q's

Couple of questions: 1) What did you use as a brake fluid reservoir and where did you locate it? 2) Anyone have a good drawing of the complete setup? All it needs to show is the lines, reservoir, cylinders, and discs.

Viking seats in a Cruisair? And another rudder spring Q

    1) I saw a Cruisair (N44FP) with Viking seats (front only). Is there an STC for this :?: 2) My cockpit rudder springs rub on the fuselage tubing. Is that normal or am I missing some sort of adjustment :?:

Need a picture of tail flying wires on a Cruisair

Scott Thomas is helping me with my flying wire questions, but I sure wish I had at least one picture of the place where the flying wires go down inside the horizontal stabilizer. I'd like to do a good job on it and a picture is worth the proverbial thousand words. Anyone have a digital camera...

    Fuselage covering woes

OK I've about had it. I'm at the point where I'm gonna cut the new envelope off 392 and start over. First, there's the wool headliner. Looks to me like it's going to flap all over the place even after tightening with water. Aren't there any bows on top of the headliner with loops like on a...

    Recovering a wood wing (urgent)

I was contacted "cold" about recovering the wood wings on 392. This guy (can't remember his name) said I should start at the wing root and wrap the wing diagonally to the tip in one continuous piece of Stits :!: Never heard of this method. I plan as of now to cover them as if they were standard...

My dad has gone into that "long, delerious burning blue

My Dad, Charles "Chuck" Wilkie, died last Tuesday. We had a military honor guard that presented my mother with a flag, fired three volleys of five, and played "Taps" that echoed eerily from a distant line of trees. Our church has a men's quartet that sang: "Eternal Father Strong To Save..." If...

    Inspection ring question

OK- I'm installing inspection rings on my fuselage envelope. If you had a chance, is there any place you really wish you had access to :?: So far, I have six on the tail- two fore and aft of the horizontal stab attachment point and one for access to the trim tab rod inside the vertical...

Need a Vertical Stabilizer picture YESTERDAY

I need a good, detailed picture of someones Cruisemaster or Cruisair rudder. What I need a good look at is the way the fabric sweeps up to the leading edge of the vertical stab from the fuselage, the gap -filler tape p between the rudder and fin, and the lacing on the fin- top two or three ribs...

Cessna 150 farings for a Cruisair?

I've heard you can buy a pair of old Cessna 150 wheel farings, cut them in half (top and bottom), make a cutout for the gear axle in the bottom half of the faring, add a lip around the top, and install them to create smooth airflow over your wheelwells. Anytruth to this? Any pictures? DD :D :D

    Mars needs wing bolts!

Anyone have a source for new wing attach bolts and nuts? I don't know how the other owners of NC74392 (14-13-2) got away with it, but there are NO THREADS on two of the wing bolts! How they managed to do this is beyond me. I don't even have a guess :!: Anyway all help is appreciated :D
