180hp KCAB STC

Just purchased a "68" KCAB with a 180hp O-360 installed in it. No paper work for installation though. I went through FAA data base for 180hp stc's and there appears to be one for this model. Tried to get ahold of STC holder but I am not having any luck. Anyone out there have this mod or knows anyone who might be familiar with the STC holder. Thanks Joel

Yes. I did a record search but nothing filed. James Adkins is the STC holder I came up with as well but other than the address I can't seem to find any contact info or for that matter if he still offers the STC.

A couple ideas:
1. Contact Jerry Mehlhaff jr, Chief engineer and DER at ACA, 262-534-6315. Maybe he would have a way to make it work, or he could DER it to get it approve as a field approval.
2. Contact Paul Babcock 781-337-2453, and ask for his advice, he is THE expert on Field Aprovals, he knows how to work with the FAA.
Also I read some time back a procedure for using an STC when the owner of the STC could not be located, I cannot remember where I found the information, maybe Mr Babcock knows how that can be done, he knows this stuff.

Unfortunately, I do not have any good info for you.

Obviously, you could seek approval again, but going that route (even with a DER) is the hard way.
By hard way, I mean time and money. :)
 
Thanks for the help guys. Tried all contacts but came to a dead end. I need to find a 7KCAB with O-360 STC installed. Anyone out there have one or know someone with an O-360 installed. Any leads would be appreciated
