Hello Everyone
I'm from Australia and am new to the club having just purchased a 1971 Bellanca Champ with the original Franklin 2 cyl engine.
I am very interested in finding out the history of my plane. I believe she was purchased from someone in Las Vegas, original registration N525MK. She was bought to Australia and fully rebuilt including new American Champion metal wings attached and a complete engine overhaul. She has recently had a fresh 100 hourly and the pre purchase inspection came back 9/10 with only a few minor fixable airworthiness issues. At present she is hangared in Brisbane and I will be relocating her to Western Australia the other side - another big journey for her. I would love to find her original owner or locate any pictures or other historic information if any still exists.
I have been conducting extensive research on this model and engine and have been coming up with very little information. I understand there wasn't many built but have a feeling that this one may be one of very few left in original condition. Does anyone have any knowledge of other Bellanca Champs, their location, condition or other information?
I am also after any information on spares. I have made contact with Susan at Franklin Engine Company who seems to be a great source at the moment.
I don't have any plans for re-engining her in the short term but I guess this will be inevitable one day in the future. I would like to keep her as original as I can for as long as possible.
Thank you all in advance for your time and comments.
