260 brake line attachment to main gear

How are the brake lines on the 260 supposed to be secured to the main landing gear? My 260 has always has a combination of zip ties and hose clamps, which does not seem likely to be original. Thanks!

When I got the Crate in 02 it had zip ties on the gear. I changed them all to Adel clamps. All these years they are still there and never any problem. Lynn the crate

Thanks, Lynn. I was thinking adel clamps were a reasonable solution that feels less icky than zip ties or hose clamps. Relying on zip ties to hold things together at landing speeds seems like living on the edge. But I was also curious what should be there; I couldn't find anything looking through the 260C/Viking parts manual.

Recently I had the same question. I called the factory and they were nice enough to dig through the old drawings and found a brake line routing print. What they sent me was very poor quality (see attached image). While this drawing does call out Adel clamps where the hose is fixed inside the wheel well, it conveniently does not offer any callout on the attachment to the strut - only an illustration. This is really not of much use as an answer to your question, but thought I would put it out there anyway. As usual I defer to Lynn's experience. --Rob

Makes you wonder if maybe the unreadable text on the right side has the details. But it doesn't look like they used adel clamps. More like the electrical tape and twine they seem to have used to secure all the old wiring harnesses. Very odd. Adel clamps certainly seem like a better idea :).

The fasteners in the print look like a cushioned Breeze clamp, or like the banding used to secure fire sleeve material to a hose. Truth be told, I've been using those "icky" zip ties for the last fifteen years. They seem to be able to hold up well to the blistering white-hot speeds of my 14-19. Tom Robinson
