46 cruiseair ... need magneto for franklin 150. I currently have eisemann La-6 maggs ...
I have lost my left magneto and would like some opnions on wheather I should get newer conversion mags and where to get if that is the case. or where I would get another eisemann or parts to repair.

I am so close to getting into the air I can taste it!!!

This the last engine challange I have (for now) next I have to start working on the gear warning that is not working and the attitude, and DG (which is not necessary for flight but is nice to have :)

Billy Boy, I for one have had much better luck replacing troublesome mags with a Slick upgrade from Unison. This upgrade includes everything mags, wires new plugs with spares and all hardware. This will give you worry free ignition for at least 500 hrs. They usually have all kinds of deals to get your business, they got mine. Slicks are easy to install and fix and have no AD's. As the crate has taught me the last thing you need is trouble at say Oshkosh, i'm there for fun not work! Lynn the crate flies on :D :D

another question ..... does the kit come with the gear needed to work with the franklin engine ... the dealers dont seem too know .?

Bill, I thought I was out of the Eisemann Magneto business almost 40 years ago. Now I'm operating a '41 14-12F3 that has a pair of them. The Franklin 150 had them as standard. If they have the latest heat resistant coil, mandated back in '65, they should give good service. Contact Al Marcucci at Savage Magneto, 510-782-7081. He should be able to repair your mag. Tell him I sent you. By the way, never get rid of your gear and make sure your absorbers are up to snuff. Plan on installing cooling blast tubes for any magneto installation. Dan

When I bought my Slick 6399 mags from Mantauck (SP?) they did NOT come with the mag drive gears. I did get a great harness with the kit. Interesting, when I went through A&P school a few years ago and got to work on mags, I was really surprised at how much "beefier" Bendix mags were than the Slicks...especially the 4300/6300 series Slicks. However, they have served me well. I did the 500 hour on them while I was in school, so got to tear them down and really look at them. I notice that the people on the Stinson group say that the Eisemann mags give a hotter spark, but I can't really vouch for that. Like I said, I am happy with my Slicks!

Close Call. 80mph winds blew hangar door into a fresh Luscome lots of damage this was in the adjoining t-hangar. Mine thank God was intact. The winds also tore the roof of the community hangar but it blew off like a lid and no damage to the 8 planes inside. Lynn the crate
