49 Gallons of fuel -- Wow

I have just purchased a 1965 7ECA.

It came with a 9 gallon reserve tank behind the back seat enclosed in the fuselage. I have been unsuccessful finding any information regarding this tank. There is no fuel switch for any of my tanks (except ON-OFF). Since my carb is gravity flow, I don't understand how the fuel gets to the carb and have been very hesitent to run it low enough to see it works. My main tanks empty first.

Would someone be kind enough to explain how this reserve tank works and/or where I might find specs and drawings.

Thank you and Have a Great Day,

Do you have any kind of engine driven fuel pump that might have been looked over, this is how my 170 works with an extended tank....if you lose fuel pressure, you are screwed, but it has an electric back up. That's my only thoughts as to how it might work. Glad you like the airplane. I get down to Texas two or three times a year in my cruisair to visit my mother. I graduated form texas a&m in 2000, but still love texas. Have a brother in san marcos that teaches at swt. It's a long time from wyoming to texas, but people don't do enough vfr no gps travelling these days, it's a lot of fun.

Take care.
