It should have the Bowden case secured to the welded clamp and piano wire inside. Originally the -4 bolt was drilled and the piano wire was inserted and a nut and washer clamped the wire. This is used for the carb heat also.

Thanks Paul, I think that is how mine should be. I need to sort through cans of nuts and bolts looking for all the harware that came off of the plane. My parts book shows pre '75 with a clevis attached to the wire.
