7ECA O-200 performance?

I'm considering a 1966 7ECA O-200 with oleo gear. Not having any experience with this plane, I'd be curious to hear from anyone who can give me an idea as to its general performance.

I'm not into acro all that much, but do occasionally loop/roll. I'd operate this plane in a relatively low DA environment with two on board. Primary destination being UP! Occasional cross countries within 2 max 3hr leg.

An option would be to consider an eng upgrade to the O-235 C2C 115hp as per 759. Not interested in the O-235 C1...

Opinions?

Thanks,

Jeff

I have flown a 65 with the O 200. It flies pretty much like any Champ. In hot weather like we have been having it will struggle with 2 full sized guys on board. I would get 500 fpm climb. I dont even remember cruise to be honest and fuel burn was around 5.5 to 6 GPH. If you are big into aerobatics you wont be happy with it as it takes forever to climb to altitude after a few maneuvers. It will loop just fine though. I now have the O 200 in my Cessna 140 and it is a reliable engine. I have 1820 smoh and 1000 since top. If you are like me and your sole purpose is to go flying nothing wrong with the early model ECA.

Thanks for your input -- anyone else -- come on guys, I know there must be a wealth of experience out there with an O-200 powered 7ECA ...
