My heater works great in the winter but come summer it still puts out a lot of heat even with the valve closed. It appears that the valve closes tight but even closed a lot of heat radiates off the metal valve. The factory says to disconnect the hose and tie if off so the heated air vents down and out of the engine compartment. But this does not help in the spring and fall. I live in Maine and we can have fairly large temperature swings. Does anyone have any unique solutions?

I took the hose completely off for the front seat and left the rear on. I could not stand it once the outside temp even got to 50. Leaving the back one on seems to take the cold bite out as the day warms up
