Vernon,
I just had my leaf spring replaced on my 68 7ECA. The old one had flattened out and made it difficult to turn the airplane. The mechanic realized that the spring they removed was too narrow and may have been for some other airplane. I spoke to the previous owner of my plane. He said that his mechanic had installed that narrow spring. He felt like it was also too hard to turn the airplane. Now with the wider spring, the pivot for the tailwheel is more vertical. I feel like I have power steering. It's also much easier for me to push the plane around on the ground. I don't know the widths of the springs but maybe the wider one is correct for your plane.
