Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows where I can get the STC to put the 8.50x6 tires on my 7ECA. I looked at the STC list from the FAA, but can't find anything for the business listed there, and I called Northland Aviation in Alaska and they don't own the rights to the STC anymore. I already called ACA and they gave me Northland's number. Anyone know who does? Thanks.

Mike

I got mine from Don Schultz of Oakland, Oregon, it is the Northland STC# SA442AL. If I can find his contact info I'll post it.....

I think 800x6 is on the TC, if you can live with slightly smaller.

Once the tire gets big enough you need bigger brakes to compensate.

I have a "friend" with 850's and the factory brakes work fantastic. He runs with no STC, his insurance carrier says it's totally insurable and he pulls them off just before annual. He loves them.

I put 8.50's on my 7ECA when I first got it. I had them approved through a repair station in Palmer Alaska. Wick Air Inc. I've since upgraded to 26" Goodyears, and recently to 26" Alaska Bushwheels. The 8.50's were a big improvement over the 8.00's that came on the plane.

are the 8.00x6 really TC'd already? mine came with 7.00 but have a set sitting here and would like to get some use out of them.

also, what is the best method to jack up these spring gear style without purchasing adj. gear mount adapters.

Yes according to American Champion 8" tires are TC'd I bought a set of shims to install them from American Champion. I am not sure I needed them because there might have been enough clearance without them but I put them on anyhow; maybe necessary for 8.50". I have not seen a bill but I was told they cost $80.00. I really like they way the plane taxies across the grass now ( I do not cringe over every little rut)and they look cool, well people have made comments about my "tundra" tires anyhow .

nice, i've tried the 8.00 on mine and they would not fit. i need that spacer as the rotor is too close. had to back to the 7.00
what is the part number of the spacer?
