Aligning Main Gear 14-19-3A

Does anyone have any expertise with aligning the main gear? When I disassembled it for a recover, one rear spar gear fitting had a couple shims under it, I assume to align the track of the wheels. I know that you can do this to a small extent with washers between the scissors halves, but I can't seem to find any guidance in my manuals about this.

Thanks in advance,

We argued this ad nauseum on the cruisemaster site. I think shimming it so it is about netral is the best. Do the best (with plane on ground) to place long straight 2x4's along the ege of the tire and measure the distance near the tires and at the far end. Should be about equal. With a tricycle gear, I don't think being off a few degrees will matter much. (I have a 14-19-2 -note I use the word "have" not "I fly"-hopefully this will change soon)
