Aluminium gear leg corrosion

Hi all, I am getting small area's of corrosion bubbling under the paint on my 4 year old gear legs (8KCAB)
Does any one have advice on how to deal with this?
Are there any set procedures? For example I have been told Cessna spring steel legs must have paint removed mechanically i.e. paint striper is not approved.
Thanks Sam.

You sure its corrosion and not just poor paint bonding?
They are fairly smooth and you must make sure its adequately scuffed before you primer etch them. Learned this the hard way.

Its just a solid piece of 7075; I am only apprehensive of chemicals because of the 'unknown' factor.

Hi Jerry,
The aircraft is based just 1 mile from the ocean so that + a few small stone chips may have started a few spots of corrosion on the front of the gear legs.
On the top of the gear legs the bubbling like you say is more likely a bonding issue. The 500 hr gear leg bolt replacement could be a good time for a full repaint.
Annual is in 2 weeks so will show your comments to the A&P.

Thanks Sam.
