Anyone ever stuff a 220 HP Frank in a 14-19?

I was wondering if it's possible without changing the cowl.
Harvey Leydecker had a 14-13-2 with a hopped-up 180 in it, and he went with a Comanche cowl.
Personally I'd love to put a 6A-350 in 392, but I actually like the classic cowl, so that's out. Maybe I can afford the 180 HP or the IO-360 Lyc conversion one day.
Not that I'd go much faster, but it sure would FEEL like I was :D
Just wonderin' :?

Mike Grimes put a 220hp Franklin in is 14-13-2, Dave, but he's and A&P/IA who does work for the FAA. Even so he said approval was a nightmare. This was several years ago as well, alas.

Here's a link to Mike Grimes 14-13:

The thrust line looks higher than the 150's would be. I wonder how that affected performance?

Still want to know if anyone stuck the 220 in a Cruisemaster...

Sorry DD - I thought the subject line was a typo as you're not restoring a Cruisemaster. My regrets as well that I do not know of anyone who has stuck a Franklin up front on their 14-19. The upgrade path, as you probably know, is the O-470 Continental with the later 'Master's cowl. This mod is simply easier to achieve and the O-470 is a better engine.

Mike Grimes had to change the cowl so much I just wondered if "Master folks would have to do the same. :)
