Augie Bellanca Gone West

I read yesterday that August Bellanca passed away on March 16th. He was 83.

2010 has not been kind to anything Bellanca. A week or so after Augie's death,I learned of Elinor Smith's death. For those not in the know......Elinor was a contemporary of Earhart and by all accounts was a far better aviator. She befriended GM as a very young lady and set a few women's records in the early CH and CH 300 Bellancas. As a senior member of the '99s, she was always in demand as a speaker and spokesman. I'll treasure the few letters I received from her. I think she lived to be 98 or 99. I should be so lucky.............................Dan
