Battery

I have a late 1960's citabria. The sealed battery sits on top of a tray assembly, which is mounted to the airplane frame, sitting directly behind the aft baggage area. I have several questions.

#1 With a similar battery location, do most planes utilize a battery box which is drained?

#2 If you do not have a battery box installed, how do you deal with AD 72-18-03 (Deals with batteries leaking on control cables). I realize this AD was issued before sealed batteries became common place or even existed.

Just wondering what you guys/gals are using for batteries. Has anyone installed an Odyssey battey? I see that it is approved for a PA18 but I bet that you could get a field approval to install it in a Citabria. Would also save a few pounds!!!
