Beacon/ Strobe Location

My 1969 7ECA has a Grimes Strobe mounted on the Rudder.
Is this location legal if I replace it with a self-contained LED STC'd one?

Should be if it's a direct replacement, I can't imagine a reason why not.

You said "STC'd". So if your airplane model is shown on the approved paperwork, you are good to go. Install per the approved drawings. Get your IA to fill out a 337 Form and sign it off.
