Those ads have been popping up for a few months, Dave. And, although your contribution comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek, I believe the current incarnation of Bellanca was created by a group of Bellanca owners, much the same as the case with the Commander TC being purchased by an owners group. Manufacturing new aircraft is out of the question really, as we saw when no buyer came forth for the one new Bellanca AA made a few years back. Cost is the killer. The entire post-war Bellanca line never was an easy aircraft to manufacture. Just look at the wings. Thus you have to charge Cirrus or Mooney prices for a wood, tube, and fabric aircraft. Living off of maintenance, parts, and restoration would be viable if the fleet were larger. Most orphan fleets number in the thousands whereas the total low wing Bellanca fleet numbers in the hundreds.

It's a painful reality unlikely to change, alas.

Alexandria Aviation is four folks who used to work at various Bellanca incarnations over the years. They bought the assets when the previous company went bust and hadn't paid their rent for months.

The post-Cruisair low wing Bellanca population is in the 1200 to 1300 range, not hundreds as Jonathan states. That's still a fairly small population compared to other types.
