Does the addition of BHM metal spar kit on 7gcaa give it the 100lb gross wt. increase? anotherwords, do you get the 100# increase with any metal spar change to a 70's 7 gcaa?

different question: what would it cost to add the inverted system to make a gcaa a kcab? could i keep the carb 0320 and just add invt oil system?

is there anything wrong with buying a plane with BHM metal spar wings? Is there anything to look for or extra cost down the road?

thanks,

Well this will be my first post. I bought a 7 ECA with the Milman spars. I looked at one with the factory wings and this one. The deciding factor for me ended up being engine condition. The ACA wings give you the 100 lb gross increase and the Milman does not. Also from what I understand you can upgrade a 7 ECA to 150 hp using factory paperwork if you have the ACA wings but not the Milman. I have some questions also if the Olin Pash spade STC applies to the Milman spar aircraft.

I was able to see pics of the spar install on my aircraft so I know it was done properly. Since the spar AD no longer applies with the exception of the GW increase I would have no issue buying a plane with this spar stc as long as the aircraft checked out otherwise.

There is nothing wrong with the Milman (formerly BHM) spars, and they definitely eliminate the Spar AD inspection requirements. I purchased a set of wings several years ago with the Milmans due to unavailability of wood spars at the time, and have no complaints.

According to Olie, the spades are covered under the STC and work well. I bought a set myself many years ago.
