Boost Pump Failure?

What are the symptoms of boost pump failure? When priming, it is sluggish (compared to usual) and makes a sound as if it is laboring to work. This is intermittent. I have only tested it a few times, now it is down for annual. Has anyone had a similar experience? Thank you. G.
 
Had this problem many years ago. It turned out to be the bearing between the pump and the motor itself. Easy and cheap to fix. Standard NTN bearing.

We replaced the bearing, but the seal was also leaking, so we decided to buy a new pump. I believe the pump we replaced was the original, circa 1977, so it was probably time. Thanks for your help!
