Cleaning fuel tanks

I switched over to the Aeronca Aviators forum and in an older topic where the topic was cleaning the debris out of the bottom of a fuel tank. It was suggested by one that the fuel should be drained as much
as possible and suck the rest out with a shop vac.
I sure hope none of us would ever do that unless you want to join "The Darwin Club."
I had a "blast" reading that one.

Another EAA Martyr in the making !

with built in tanks, this is a tough problem.
pull the quick drain, flush.. and nickel to a donut you will still have some residual crap,
despite wing wiggling, mirrors, flashlights, and prayer rugs.

One of those hand vacuum pumps used for brake bleeding with a long tube at least won't blow you to
where ever exploded people go...

when I was young, I remember pulling the fuse tank from my luscombe, and later a T-crate.
Which made flushing them "easy" in comparison. ( Wasted effort in the T-crate since I failed to flush the fuel lines
and carburetor.. and it promptly quit in the pattern ! Wonder I ever got old, isn't it ? )
