In 2002 we replaced a set of wings on a Citabria with the metal spar replacements from ACA. This year it failed the annual due to cracking next to all of the surface tapes on the top of the wings. At first it looked as if someone had used a razor blade on the area. After closer examination the dacron fibers were found broken in these areas.
We contacted the covering supplier about the problem and were told that ACA uses their supplies but has a factory installation proceedure for the covering system.
ACA told us that they will recover the wings at no charge but would not pay for shipping. If we decide to cover them localy they would rebate $4000.
We are planning to ferry the plane to the factory for repair when the weather improves.
