Cruisair air engine air filtration

I recently say a Cruisair for sale that mentioned that it had been modified to sport an engine air filter. Does anyone know what this mod consists of? Is it worth doing? pictures? paperwork? thanks!
 
My Cruisair has an airfilter. Is this not standard or is this something else the previous owner did and did not document? It looks like it has a 6x6x1 Bracket type filter element in it. Anyone have info on this and a part number for the element?
