Has anyone been successful in obtaining a Form 337 field approval to use the 8.5:1 pistons in an AEIO-320-E1B?

A call to Ken at LyCon in Visalia Ca would get your answer. They have one STC for the 160hp conversion, RAM has another. There may be others. If your engine model isn't covered by anybody's STC (guessing that's why you're asking) then LyCon may know whether anybody has done it by field approval. Their number is (559)-651-1070.
 
Another thing to ask them about would be porting/polishing/flowmatching your cylinders. If you're looking for a HP boost, this will give you more than the C/R increase. We had LyCon do both on my friend's / customer's 7GCBC, and the performance is outstanding. Over 180hp out of an O-320!

Not trying to hijack - apologies - but is there an STC to replace the 0-235-C1 in a 7ECA with an 0-320? I have an ancient and runout 0-235 in my '67 7ECA and am contemplating what to do when "it is time."
