Have a 1973 Decathlon with an IO-320 (150HP) and a constant speed prop. Usually indicate an airspeed of 115 MPH at 24"MP and 2400 RPM. The GS on the GPS seems to confirm that no pitot/static issues are apparent. For some reason, I thought the airplane would be faster. Am I just daydreaming?
Also, leaning the mixture, (without EGT or CHT temps) seems to settle most times at 8.5 GPH; going by pure seat of the pants and engine roughness procedure. For you experienced Decathlon drivers, is this too lean or too rich for...say an average PA of 2000 ft?
