Exterior Cabin Door Handle

I have a 74 7ECA. The spring that holds the exterior cabin door handle flush has moved on into the great beyond and is missing. Now my exterior cabin door handle dangles in the wind.
I have tried to find a replacement spring, no joy. I have tried to find a replacement handle, no joy.
The ones from ACA are different than the ones from my era. No junk(salvage) yard I have found has one.

Has anyone replaced the hold flush spring in the exterior door handle? Where did you get the spring? Anyone know where to find a 74 era Citabria exterior door handle?

Does anyone know if it is possible to fabricate a spring?

Thanks,

Check the McMaster-Car catalog, they list hundreds of springs, if they don't have it they can make it from your specs.

If your airplane has the square door latch with the key lock, then Wag Aero has them new for $64.50. The Wag Aero SKU number is H-909-000.

Thanks for the replies.
I found the latch, a Decker Model 1040-B.
They are available from WagAero and also are used on several vintage trailers and RVs.
The aviation sites get ~$90 and the RV part sites ~$50.
No luck on the spring.

I made a spring for my Citabria door handle and if I remember correctly I used a dipper safety pin. Works great, been on there for five years now.
