Flying 7GCBC with Door Removed

Does anyone have any experience flying with the door removed? What are the legalities involved, and for those of you who have done it, does the airplane handle differently?

Just curious in the event that I want to participate in a flour bombing contest or take some unobstructed photos.

To legally fly with the door removed you must either obtain an STC, unfortunately the STC holder has apparently died so it seems to be no longer available, or a Special Flight Permit from the FAA.

Use the LH window instead of the door.

I did one time without the door. Ok it wasn´t planed but on one particluar aerobatic training flight in 7gcbc with a friend of mine we´ve lost the door. :shock:


The aeroplane doesn´t handle differently at all. Of course we´ve break our aerobatic exercises so it means the handling in stright and level flight
