Flying a GCAA without the door

I'm doing some aerial photographer and it would be a lot easier without the door in place. Same with the left side sliding windows. My airspeed would remain below 100 MPH.

Does anyone know have experience with flying without the door or sliding windows (by choice I hope). Can it be done safely without damage to the plane?

Thanks - Jim

Jim-

There is a STC that allows you to legally fly without the door, however my understanding is that the STC holder can't be reached (he may be dead), in years past the FAA would allow flight with the door removed by issuance of a Letter of Authorization that listed the limitations, speed, bank angle, etc. I suggest you speak with your local FSDO.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear that I probably won't have to pave new ground. I'll give me FSDO a call.

Thanks again! - Jim Clark
