I'm thinking about using my 7ECA as a camera ship. I'd like to fly it without the door. Anybody know of an STC or gone by way of a 337. Please help, the local FISDO dosen't seem to want to give me any direction on this one.

With the FAA's recent move towards elimiating 337's and relying on the ACO's to give approvals, its gotten hard to do easy things like this.

In the past, I have helped people get 337's by hand writing (on letterhead) a statement to the effect that a removed door is equivalant to a fully opened right or left side window. Thus, must be placarded as limited to 90 mph, just like the window/split door.

However, this has become insufficient as of late. So, I suggest either finding someone who already has a 337 for it. Or just take the door off and don't get caught. lol
The latter would require you put the door back on when you are done.

Keep it under 90 and your back windows should remain on the plane :D

Did you ever find a 337 for the door removal ? If not, I have one. e-mail me at mj.swanson@sbcglobal.net.
