Formers & Stringers

Does anybody know what type of wood was used by the factory for the formers, stringers and some of the solid blocks found inside the fuselage?

The standard for all aircraft work is Sitka Spruce with Douglas Fir as an acceptable alternate. If you can't find what you need locally, [ ladder supply shops work.] ACS will sell you some up to 8' unless you want to pay motor freight. Solid blocks can be made out of most hardwoods, like birch, basswood, alder, maple, etc. Use WestSystem or T88 for glue.

Or, for real fun, use the original Black Locust and watch sparks fly from the table saw as you destroy the saw blade (and then a drill bit and then...). I'm pretty sure that flap mount block will outlast the rest of the airplane by decades.
