Fuel gauge not working in 8kcab - Tips

Hello,

After my last refuelling this last sunday, I see the right fuel gauge says I have less than half tank but the tank is completely filled, both tanks. Left gauge meassures full tank but right is not operative.

What should I look for in order to find the problem? could it be the gauge itself? is there any way to see what might be happening? On my last flight, I take off full in both tanks and had a flight of 3:30 endurance, did not observe any malfunction during the flight. It seems something happened after refuelling.....

Best regards,

Hi,

I am just in case looking for the part number of the fuel gauge, but not success. All I know the manufacturer is Rochester, but can not find the model, might it be 6500?

Best regards,

Miguel

The Decathlon fuel gauge float is very close to the dragwire tubes. Somewhere along the line you must have bent the wire and its stuck on the cross tube. Fly the plane down to empty or drain the rest out and remove the gauge. You just have to tweak it a little bit to get it to clear again. You shouldn't need a new gauge (although its a posibility).

Just use the left gauge in the meantime. Mechanically, its all one tank anyway.

Thank you very much Jerry for your support and help.

I will drain the right tank and dissamble the gauge to see if it is the float or the gauge. If the problem happened refuelling, maybe just drainning could freedom the float again and maybe it is free movement when refuelling again, I will try tis firdt prior to dissamble the gauge.

Thanks again,
