Fuel storage?

A buddy of mine wants to know how long he could store av-gas at his place in a barrel down in Baja Mexico as a safety in case fuel is unavailable sometime. Any idea if there is a limit as to how long it can be stored if sealed well? I know there is a stabilizer they sell from automotive, boat, & generator applications but I don't know if that safe to use on av-gas.
 
Avgas is fairly stable. In the UK, we are using barrels of 80/87 that are over 3 years old without any problem. Similar with 100ll. Just check for water before use if it has been hot and cold.
