Hi I am restoring my 68 7ECA I have the old stile 18 gal tanks should I upgrade to the new stile tanks wile I have it apart? The old tank do not leak and are in good shape. Thanks

What is the difference? I thought the "old style" fit in the wood wing, and the new ones were for the metal? My 1970 GCBC has 19Gal tanks? The fuel selector and placarding all says 38 gal usable. I know the new stuff is 36.

The 1974 and up fuel tanks are made from 2 formed 'clam' shells. They are more dependable in design. However, they are rounded all the way around and you lose some volume (1.5 gallon per side). New style uses nicer Rochester gauges. Other than that...they operate exactly the same.

Hi,

If you are swapping out you tanks and still have the old ones, I might be interested in them as I'm presently rebuilding a 7GC set of wings and my tanks are a little sketch.
