Gascolator looks lethal

Whilst having some work done on my 1965 7GCAA, I was poking around looking at stuff and found the tiny weld on the gascolator bail (under the thumbscrew threads) that keeps me airborne. This looks astonishingly unsound. Haven't spoke to my mechanic about it (Memorial Day), but snapped this pic and thought I'd ask you folks if this looks normal and what might be the fix if it's not (normal, that is).

Hi Pete it looks normal to me just about all the Pipers I've worked on have the very same gascolator and bail assembly.
 
Go to Steve's Aircraft and get one of their gascolators. Best $200 you could every spend.
