Generic Non Adhesive Wing Root Fairing Sealant ?

is there some cheap Ace/Napa non hardening, non adhesive sealant I can use in place of
the obscure product called out in wing inspection ID... to seal my wing root fairings to the wing / fuse
without gluing them together for eternity ?

I see no evidence that anything at all was ever used ( suits me, unless I get caught in the rain.)
 
I have been using 3M 8500. I first learned about it from Alexandria A/C. It peels off easily after a year on the plane, and does a great job of sealing.

ok.. thats the stuff mentioned in the AD... something else to order.

there are some teflon and silicone cowling chafe tapes.. but look too thick
and not cheap... although probably resusable.
