Gross max weight 1978 7gcbc

The plane I am flying this summer is a 1978 7GCBC and to my surprise today I picked up the POH and it lists the max gross as 1650lbs. I was pretty disappointed as I thought the max was 1800 and you could go 1950 if you replace the spars? Anyone know if American Champion will endorse the plane for 1800lbs and issue a new weight and balance sheet. Cripes at 1650 max and an empty of 1250 me and full gas and I'm maxxed out.
 
1800lbs is the gross wt for the 7GCBC with the new ACA factory wings and struts. I have not heard of any way to increase the gross wt of the wood wing aircraft without performing all the testing required to obtain an STC.

Thanks I read the other concurrent thread after posting this... like is says there's an $18,000 method to gain the 1800lb rating.
