Handling: Citabria vs. Decathlon

Question from a newbie who is considering transition from a Bonanza to a Citabria or Decathlon:

I well understand the Decathlon's advantage in acro. But acro aside, would you care to comment on the real or perceived differences in handling and performance between a Citabria and Decathlon (assume both 150 hp and all else equal)? How about maintenance concerns of one versus the other?

I have many hours in a 7KCAB and an 8KCAB, in my opinion they fly the same right side up. Maintenance is identical.

Thanks. That's what I was after. I was guessing the symmetrical airfoil might give up some short-field performance or stability in cruise.
