Heavy Case vs Light case Frankies

There's a 165 HP Franklin on e-bay right now. Number on the engine is 18906. Can you tell from this whether this is the heavy or light case 165?

I believe that number is actually the part number for the right half of the case, not the serial number for the engine. That number is under the #6 cylinder. The left half has it's number under the #1 cylinder - 18905
Those are heavy case numbers.

Thanks y'all.
It's definitely a heavy case on both sides. No log books from 1984 back. Still may buy it though if I can sell either my Breitling Airborne Navitimer or my MGB.

I'm re-covering the fuselage. I had to re-do the vertical empennage and I couldn't get the old fabric tight enough where it met the new fabric. No biggie- I have more than enough polyester and only plan to re-do the fuselage top and VE halves. The rest looks mighty good if I do say so myself!
What I really want to do is put the 165 this bird had from the factory back in her. It was pulled in 1947 and a 150 put in its place. Don't know why.
Perfect weather for covering here in Huntspatch USA.
As far as selling off various posessions, it has become clear to me the Cruisair means more to me than anything I have except for my lovely Margaret. The trip to Namibia sort of put everything back in perspective for me.

I know what you mean Dave. When I told my youngest son that I had bought the RV6 project and was going to sell my Bellanca, he replied that he thought that I could sell him with less emotional trauma! Not true, but I did end up selling the RV6 and also am working on putting a 165 in mine...though as every airplane owner, mine is still for sale, but...?

if the son can do heavy lifting, dig a straight ditch, split fire wood,
and can subsist on beans and rice he cooks, while sleeping in an old dead station wagon,
I'll make you a good offer.

Let me know so I can find the station wagon.

A sturdy daughter would be better though.
