Hooker harness installation

I'm installing a hooker harness system in a 1975 8KCAB.
The aircraft does not have the welded attachment to connect the shoulder harness.
The STC says to cut slots in the wood former mounted on top of the rear spar carry through member and install the straps trough the slots. I can do that, but what can I do where the shoulder straps go through the headliner? Any way to do this neatly with out making a mess of the headliner?
Ideas?
Thanks, Bill Becker

Bill, I will be installing harnesses in my Citabria soon. My plan is to get some thin calf skin or other supple leather and cut an oval with a slot in the middle to glue to the headliner as a doubler where the belt exits. If you can't get leather in a reasonably matching color, you can visit an auto parts store for interior paint. It will paint vinyl or leather very nicely.

Bill,

We did our 7ECA. Worked with an upholsterer to find matching vinyl. Couldn't find a match. Glued some over the cut opening that almost matched. Glue did not hold. Now have almost matching vinyl pulling loose from the headliner.

Next time I'm at Troy I'll give you a shout and you can look at our mess.
