How do I convert to a Christen 801 in a 1975 8KCAB
Has someone converted a 1975 8KCAB with an IO 320 E1B to a Christen 801 inverted oil system? I found an STC for 7KCAB but not for the 8. The engine is at Penn Yan now for overhaul and the oil sump baffle is not reparable. I would replace the baffle if anyone has one for sale? and I know thy are prone to cracking. I would rather not rebuild it with out an inverted oil system.

Wayne,
I din't know they had an IO320 in a 1975 8KCAB. Mine is a 1975 SN 190-75 and has the AEIO320 which has the Christen system.
I'm thinking you need to talk to the engine builder and ask if they can convert the IO to an AEIO, if they can, you can install the Christen system per the pertinent ACA drawing, which you can purchase from ACA, then it would be just a log book sign off.
If they cannot convert the engine, I would call ACA and ask for Jerry jr, ask him if you have other options, or worst case, ask what it would cost for him to DER the Christen system on a IO320.
The Christen system Is Sooo much better it would be worth the cost and effort.

Wayne, Please post what you find out on this, I helps all of us to get to read the results of questions posted here.

Bill, so far I think you put me on the right path. Penn Yan aero is working on the conversion from a IO to a AEIO. They said they came up with the same answer, no STC needed. It sounds like it's simple, just change the sump ($400-500 more) and you got an AEIO. Got the installation plans for the Christen from ACA ($50). It seems like you have to ask the right questions at ACA or you don,t get an answer.
