Back in February, when I sent my engine off to be overhauled, I also sent my Pesco 1P677 hydraulic pump off to Quality Aircraft Accessories for overhaul. They claimed it was unrepairable and swapped pumps for me. Fast forward to last week when I started the engine and discovered the pump was running backwards (sigh). After lots of back and forth, it turns out that the Bellanca uses a Pesco 1P677 CCW, which spins the opposite direction and is an aftermarket change. The guy at QAA did not have nice things to say about that setup, although it's likely my pump ran for 2500 hours without any maintenance or problems.
So now my problem. QAA is happy to swap my Pesco for either an Eastern or New York Airbrake (Stratopump) pump. The three 14-19-2s I can poke at all have the New York Airbrake pump and have a AN-5 banjo fitting on the back to make the 90 degree turn before the firewall. The Pesco just used normal NPT to flared tubing 90 degree fittings, so I don't have one of those banjo fittings and can't find a -5 sized one anywhere. Anyone have any idea where they came from or a part number I might be able to search for?
So close to flying again. So frustrated to be stumbling on something that could have been sorted out in March when I was still months from flying .
