New CruisAir owner

My name is John King and I am the new owner of Gary Brink's newly restored CruisAir. I flew out from VA to see the plane the day after Christmas. After a quick walk around and short test flight, I knew I had found my CruisAir. Oddly enough it is as old as I am. Gary and I had a great couple of days taking about his restoration of N1413A. He also escorted me through the Bellanca operation on the field there in Alexandria, MN. Like a kid in a candy store!
I returned home and started planning my flight from Alexandria, MN to Warrenton, VA. With an early morning start and decent WX I should be able to make the flight in one day. I returned to MN in early Jan. for what looked to be a decent weather window. Unfortunately it was marginal, and I mean marginal, VFR! Took three days but three great days of flying my own Bellanca back home. Hope to see some of you at Sun N Fun and again, thanks Gary Brink for allowing me to be the new caretaker of your wonderful plane!

Hi John, Welcome to the forum! We try to be a mutually helpful group and are always glad to see new enthusiastic people join. Looking forward to you asking, answering, commenting and...? Gary told me about your finding and flying the plane. I'm sure you'll have many happy hours flying it. He did a lot of work. Again, WELCOME!

Hello John,
Scott Thomas here, resident at the HIllsville/Galax airport (HLX) less than 2 hours away from you in SW Virginia!
In the "It's a small world" category, I bought my 14-13-2 just under 30 years ago from a fellow, Ron Phillips, at Warrenton. He actually kept it at Woodbridge (now a shopping center) in Woodbridge, VA but had it in Sherman Joyce's shop at Warrenton for an annual. If you like great stories, ask the old-timers about Sherman..... a tad of a character.
If the weather ever turns nice here again we should get together.

Scott

John:

Welcome to the forum and to the wonderful world of owning a Cruisair. I've had mine a little over a year and am just ecstatic about it. My office is very close to the airport where I keep the airplane (KFWS, south of Fort Worth, TX), so I fly every day the weather is nice - over 100 hours in the first year.

It is a delightful airplane and this is an amazing and supportive group. If your travels ever take you to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, please drop in and say hello. If the weather is a problem, we have plenty of hangar space so your airplane won't be outside.

Best Wishes,
