New Instrumentation from Garmin

For anyone thinking about a G5 or the "yet to be certified" AV-30, now there are more choices from our friends at Garmin. This new product comes in various configurations and looks like it could be a very nice solution, although the cost represents a significant percentage of the value of our aircraft.

I am getting close to getting this ole bird back into the air and right now I have an empty hole where the radio's where, with all the 2020 mandates going on right now it is hard to get some one to talk to you at an avionics shop. I figure I will own this till I die so I do not care about resale on it. The way avionics has been going these days what ever I buy will be outdated in a couple years? My wife said if your going to update it why not make it for IFR flying that way the plane is more practical to fly all the time.

You could buy another Bellanca for what Garmin wants for those electronic gizmos. Consider also that they will be obsolete by the time your bank loan is paid! Garmin does not support what they consider obsolete. Lynn the crate :x

I was looking at the 430 and recently heard there is updates for them you have to pay for every year??? And as you have said why not buy another aircraft that has it all right now? They are a money pit, just like a boat!

On any approach certified GPS you have to update the databases to use it for IFR flight.
