O-200-A Light Weight Alternator Options?

I'm aware only a few Citiabrias have the O-200-A. I was wondering if there were any legal light weight alternator options opposed to having the original generator repaired. (I already have the SkyTech light weight starter.) I see the B&C alternator but it appears to be for experimentals only.

Thanks!

Plane Power: planepower.com 877-359-5355, now owned by Hartzell. Put mine in two years ago and no problems; smaller, lighter, cheaper than the overhaul of the Prestolite would have been. I believe they sell through the major distributors Aircraft Spruce, Wag Aero, etc.

That is what I have also. However, I have seen other brands, but they seem to run about the same price.

One thing about the Plane Power kit, is that it includes the regulator and much of the other items needed to convert. In addition to the kit, I think I had to get a larger ammeter (old one was 30 amp and needed at least 50 for the alternator) and a fuse holder.

The instructions for the conversion are available on line.

Another issue to watch for in the O-200 conversion is the drive coupling. If yours is not up to continued use, some of the parts can be expensive. I think I had to buy the rubber components and found them pretty inexpensive. I would have to look at my paperwork to see where.

Thanks guys. My A&E agreed with the Hartzell conversion recommendation but he was going to take a quick look first to see if it is something simple.

Robert, the hardware is pretty straight forward, but there is a fair bit of wiring needs done. Again, I recommend printing out the instructions. They are available on the Aircraft Spruce listing for the O-200 kit.
