O-200 Sky-Tec Starter Conversion

I know there are very few O-200 7ECAs out there but I just did the Skytec starter conversion on my O-200 and was very pleased. Much lighter. No more pull handle. The clutch in the original starter is a problem.

Nice pics. The starter upgrade is a real plus.

I still remember the day when I gave my old starter handle a good pull and it came right out.

I know you had the clutch problem with your old starter. My starter was working fine, but since we had to open the motor, I decided it was a good time to do the upgrade.

Other than Robert and me, are there any other O-200 powered Citabria owners on this forum?

The above link has all the info on the Sky Tec Continental Starter Conversion with pictures of the process. You have to cut off the chutch shaft inside the engine case (unless you already have it open for a major overhaul). I certinaly let my A&E handle this one! My cost to convert was only 2x the cost of a new clutch going back with my old starter as is. Plus it removed 6 lbs. The starter clutch on the old Continentals can be a problem. I got a reference from Dale (above post) and my A&E had already done an old 150 at our airport. I'm pleased.
