Pre-buy advice? Things to look for & be aware of???

What items need to be carefully looked at during a pre-buy inspection on a 7 series Citabria or 8KCAB?

From reading other posts on the site, I have found these areas:

1) lower longerons where MLG attaches

2) MLG through bolt replacement

3) tail wheel springs

4) Spar / strut inspection

What else can bite you and is not obvious?

How often should the tail wheel assembly be rebuilt?

Engine for corrosion...low time engines that have sat awhile are subject to camshaft, cylinder corrosion, ect... Make sure all ADs are up to date. A tailwheel assembley should last a long time. just lightly grease it every 50 hours or so. the bearings may need to be checked and repacked with grease every now and then but the rest of it is pretty maintenance free.

American Champion recommends the Electrical sysyem upgrade. The little 5 amp fuse addition to protect the alternator VR circuit can save your bacon.
Also think about Landing Gear U bolts.
